Why tech and lifestyle?

It would be so easy to just do a plain tech blog, I could write posts about what I have been researching, and the latest hottest technologies I’ve been playing with. Heck, I already have some pretty cool tech series in the works. So why don’t I just do that? It is important for people to visible as multi-dimensional beings. I exist as more than just a technologist, I am a human person like you, with all the complexity that brings. I don’t think that just a tech blog is sufficient to contain an entire person.

Additionally, there aren’t enough gay voices in the tech world right now. Sure, we can list businessmen Tim Cook and Peter Thiel as major gay leaders in the tech space, we don’t seem to hear from as many out gay men who are down in the technical trenches. To be clear I’m not trying to take any shots at either of these men but if for example I need to build out a CI pipeline for my PowerShell module I’m probably not looking to Tim Cook as my first resource. Nor am I trying to say there aren’t any gay engineers; that the exact opposite of my point. We are here, and we are a diverse group. I’m not all gay engineers, but I am one and I want to add my voice to the conversation.

This lack is why I am doing a combination blog, part technical content, part lifestyle, all rambling. I’m going to be tagging the different types of posts so whether you are here for the deep dives into how containers work, or if you want to hear which countries grow the best coffee, or hopefully both you can follow those specific interests. For a shorter quick fix post, you can look for my espresso tag.
